If one of your goals is to be more active on social media and use the platforms to truly grow your business, you’ll likely want to know the best ways to be effective …quickly. Check out these hacks for the popular social platforms.
LinkedIn Hack
Of the social media platforms, LinkedIn is the one for “business.” Touted as the World’s Largest Professional Network, 80% of B2B marketing leads from social media come through LinkedIn.
This hack for improved engagement on LinkedIn might surprise you. In short, you don’t need pictures on your posts. Yes, you read that correctly.
Contrary to what we’ve always been told and different from the social platforms like Twitter where Tweets with images earned up to 18 percent more clicks, it appears that on LinkedIn, posts WITHOUT pictures are getting more engagement.
The hack: remove pictures from posts and watch views soar. Guy Kawasaki recently said he noticed posts without pictures got 3-5 times more views than posts with pictures.
Do this by removing the picture from the draft post (click the X) but leave the link so it’s easier for people to click. Speaking of links, another thing Guy noticed is that when links are in the first comment vs. on the post itself, he gets 3 times more views on the post! Might be worthwhile to give it a try.
Facebook Hack
Worldwide, there are over 2.07 billion monthly active Facebook users with 1.37 billion people on average logging onto Facebook daily. The organic reach is declining considerably on Facebook, while ads are now the dominant form of connecting with your audience. However, there are still little tricks to employ for organic growth.
If you want to increase your Facebook business page likes, this hack is a simple one. When people like your posts, invite them to like your PAGE.
- Log in to Facebook from a computer (not the mobile app)
- From your company page, click on the total amount of likes on one of your posts.
- Look to the right of a user’s name and click on Invite.
- Done! Facebook will invite that person to like your page! Note, the invite option is only there for people who are NOT currently liking your page.
Instagram Hack
Affectionately known by many as IG or “The Gram,” Instagram is hot! This picture plenty app now has over 600 million users according to Instagram’s report on December 21, 2016. As of March 2017, over 120 million Instagram users visited a website, got directions, called a business, emailed or direct messaged a business.
This hack involves scheduling your posts. There’s a great, powerful tool that allows you to manage and schedule your Instagram posts. The hack: use Planoly. You can plan your Instagram feed with simple drag and drop features.

Twitter has 288 million users each month. And, of course, we all know Twitter is President Trump’s favorite social media platform. But Twitter can be a fantastic source of business leads for you.
Use it to keep an eye on your competitors on the sly. Hack: Use private lists. Add your competitors to a list that you mark as private. They will not know they have been added to the list and you can keep tabs on their posts and activity.
Here’s another one many people don’t know: there are Twitter keyboard shortcuts. Who knew? Simply type a question mark (on the page, not in the new tweet field) and you’ll get the following:
Cool, right?
